Where do you live?(and who are you?)

My comment about Jim Thorton being in the Eastern Media::D led me to wonder how many Forumites are on the E Coast as it seems lots of Y'all run into each other at meets. So where are you from. Also,I know many of you want to remain anonymous, but I'd like more people to fill out their profile.People talk about how they did at a meet, but without a name I can't look them up.
  • How about just a visit...I'm looking into trying to organize a swim camp in March of 2009 when spring training is in full swing and we have a 3 day state SCY state meet going on, a number of road and mountain bike events and at least one triathalon...anyone interested?? Actually, thinking I may be in the Tucson area around April 5-10. Can't come in March. :(

Quicksilver: use to ride a suzuki intruder 1400, presently riding a suzuki DL 1000 V-Strom. Do a lot of long rides here in Brazil. Will try to rent a Goldwing, but might settle for a Harley. For american speed limits and confort the cruiser will do just fine. Here I might cruise at 90 to 100 mph so I need the capabilities and performance of the V-Strom. Waterfriend: what are you doing in Rio? Are you a fellow countryman or just an expat?

I'm Susan and I live in Vancouver, WA and am a member of Oregon Masters. Although right now I'm going a bit nuts since I haven't made it swimming in a week due the weather we're having. It figures...my shoulder FINALLY starts feeling better, I get back to swimming on a regular basis for two weeks and now I'm snowed in. Somebody up there really doesn't like me

Leonard, if you live that close to a meltdown, it is okay to break into a dead run- no need to keep one foot on the ground at all times. I live in Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada better known as paradise. Except for septic system as we are out in the country. LBJ we have to pump up to field so we have a macerating pump; perhaps I should send Geek a present?
  • Sorry, Tracy. My apologies. For those trying to keep the record straight, Tracy is from the part of the country that I previously encapsulated as follows: California, southern parts: incredibly beautiful people who are painfully earnest to the point where they might eventually require assisted reproduction to survive, like magnificent sea turtles. I should note that if you are NOT incredibly beautiful, you are rounded up and sent to the penal colony of Georgia, where you are doomed to spend the rest of your life listening to talk radio and learning to play the banjo while fantasizing about rounded pink buttocks of actor, William Beaty. Tracy, I am pretty sure there's nothing here that you can find fault with now!
  • and learning to play the banjo ... The banjo is a golden instrument that requires virtuoso technique. It is certainly worth devoting one's life to learning to play. It also moves people to creative acts in unlikely spots, and others to generosity: www.youtube.com/watch (A bit of classic clawhammer and fiddle American music by some superb practitioners.) And here is a picture (scroll down for the really fine one) of rockin' Abigail Washburn, banjista extraordinaire, who gave up a career in law to play with Bela Fleck and Casey Driessen in Sparrow: www.abigailwashburn.com/news.jsp

I put Northeast too before even reading young mermaid's post. Sorry, young mermaid, I know how hard the separation of 1/2 a mile from me must be. But you suffer so bravely! I would not technically describe myself as one of the Eastern Media Elite, Allen. Some of these terms apply, of course. Just to add an interesting wrinkle to this geographical poll, I propose we briefly characterize the various regions of the country, beginning with our own. The Pittsburgh area: what the ancient Romans based their notions of the Ellysian Fields upon. And this was before the Steelers. California, northern parts: pretty, snooty, or pretty snooty. California, southern parts: incredibly beautiful people who are painfully earnest to the point where they might eventually require assisted reproduction to survive, like magnificent sea turtles. The Midwest, the western suburbs of Pittsburgh, but not quite so sophisticated--the favorite sport out there, I understand, is fisting catfish, an altogether different form of this that practiced in the snootier parts of California The South, home of Tracy Burkholder, the Creationist Science Museum, Buford Pusser, Taladega Race Track, Spanish moss, and what could have been one of the poorest countries in the western hemisphere if General Lee had actually managed to win the war. I think that's pretty much got it covered. Jim, I see I have to correct you here as well...You just can't keep anything straight can you? Lie after lie after lie...LOL I am not "from" the south...I currently live here...I am originally "from" the Kellogg state (aka California...SoCal as a matter of fact) Nothing but a bunch of fruits, nuts and flakes. California, where the men are women, the women are both and the sheep are confused. Unlike your neighborhood where the sheep flock to your door!!! Now, please keep it straight...trying to keep up with your lies is really getting tedious!!!
  • Living in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. My dad grew up in Rio! He moved there in 1942 or so with his family. His dad opened up the GE plant there. They left in 1955. He has taught me a lot about living there. And makes a mean caipirinha. "Oi" When he wasn't in Brazil, he was in Conn.

Oh contraire mon fraire...But alas, since this is still a swimming related thread, I will refrain from speaking of your time at Neverland Ranch! And only say that is a subject for another thread!!! Rumors are that he is sick and pining for his Jimmy Boy!!!! Making a trip over there for Christmas so he can "stuff" your stocking Jim?
  • I'm chowsh (and chowec)'s little sister. There are more of you? Dang, looks like we have a Chow infestation on the Forum! :applaud: Where's the Texas option? Isn't Texas on their own power grid? I guess that makes them "special" doesn't it
