I have had a cold for the past 6 days and for the last two I've found a combination of drugs that have made it tolerable enough to let me swim. I take Nyquil (generic kind) an hour before bedtime and Musinex D just before I leave for work. At approximately 5pm, I take a 1/2 dose of the Musinex D. I feel good enough to practice for a little while (45 min).
If you have things that work for you please pass them along. Thanks, Coach T.

It sounds like a couple of people here might prefer their doctors exam them without washing their hands. Good luck with that.
Hand sanitizers are a good alternative to hand washing. They kill the germs as well but do not dry out the hands. You also don't have to worry about germs accumulating on the pump, since you don't touch it after sanitizing.
For colds, I take Excedrin PM or something similar just as the cold is setting in. A good night's rest early on helps the body fight off the germs. This always works, except when it doesn't.
