Making a cold tolerable

I have had a cold for the past 6 days and for the last two I've found a combination of drugs that have made it tolerable enough to let me swim. I take Nyquil (generic kind) an hour before bedtime and Musinex D just before I leave for work. At approximately 5pm, I take a 1/2 dose of the Musinex D. I feel good enough to practice for a little while (45 min). If you have things that work for you please pass them along. Thanks, Coach T.

I have the world's worst post-nasal drip when I get a cold, just like my paternal grandmother did. This can lead to endless violent coughing for the cold's duration. I've found that if I take 2000 mg of vitamin C 4 times a day it does absolute wonders for me. The only gotcha is that I have to start it the instant I suspect that I am coming down with a cold or it has little effect. In case I do miss my "window" and end up with the coughs, I use a prescription drug called Tussionex that is the only thing I've ever found that works safely for me. Codeine works, but like alot of people, I'm allergic to it. -LBJ
