Chris,
Be wimpy in a different way: skip the 800 and swim the 400 on Friday night. You'll be more fresh for the remainder of the meet. Plus, there's a 4:08 national record out there that needs to be broken
I'd love to do that. Unfortunately because of work I cannot leave Richmond early enough on Friday to be able to swim it (a bunch of us are driving up).
I'm not sure I could go a 4:08. Mostly I just wanted to swim the event. (And I bet Erik Hochstein will crush 4:08 anyway, if he swims it.)
BTW some Richmond swimmers from your era may be there. Dave Holland for sure, Evan Davis is possible. I was trying to get Will Fitzhugh to go, but no dice so far. Todd Bassett can't b/c his daughter is swimming a meet (Tom Dolan) the same weekend. (All still swim in masters practices, although Will maybe only about once a week.) Oh, and Mark Kutz -- who coaches Dave, Evan, Will and me -- had some good things to say about you in your age-group days.
