Glad I found this site! I swam competitively for about 10 years until my freshman year of college where I just gave it up because I was burned out. It's been 20 years and I just started up a few weeks ago. I had a break of 10 days or so from an illness but I am back in the swing of things. I'm focused right now on building my endurance again and that is coming along. It's amazing how good technique is sooo key to swimming fast. I have about 50lbs I can lose and yet I can keep up or pass many people in the pool who have been swimming regularly much longer than I have. It's great to be doing this again!

ROFL....I was a flyer when I started to swim (about 10-11 years old) but then puberty hit and that was that! Nah, not in a club yet. I feel like I need some time to feel competent in the water again when it comes to workouts. There is a fitness class that practices in the pool I use, however they start too late (6am--yeah too late! LOL!) for my time schedule. And I'm not feeling quite ready yet---but hopefully soon. I have looked online at some clubs and once I feel I am ready, I'll do some more serious scouting. My goal is to swim in a meet again someday. I feel so great after swimming....I really have a lot of energy. I don't get the same feeling when I hit the gym. So it's really addicting. I still switch it up by hitting the gym too. I'm working on upper body weight lifting to help me in the pool. My legs are pretty solid. I can leg press more than most guys in the gym. :laugh2: (250lbs). Just 'cause I'm fat doesn't mean I'm not strong. :)
