Ah the trouble with being bored at work on a Friday before a long weekend.
So for those who know me (and those who don't), I pose a question.
At Indy next year, what will my 50 Free time be?
I just went 26.52 at Zones last weekend.
Hmmm....I guess it was Friday. I'm definitely not as stupid as my post sounded!
No worries. I know the feeling. Yesterday my brain felt like it was wrapped in a wet blanket.
26.52 LCM is super fast and sounds like a big improvement for you. Good luck on breaking 26.0. That's a huge drop for only a 50, especially when your 26.52 was already a huge drop for you. I'll be rooting for you.
Paul, you didn't put 27.5 as an option, so I picked 27.0.
Have you never heard of "regression to the mean"?
By this, I don't mean to be mean, just that barring some further jump in suit technology that you actually can win familial permission to purchase ("Let's take a little money out of Erica's college fund"), and assuming you continue to wear the current B70 suit at other meets, using up its magic pixie dust with every swim between now and next summer, I think that by the time next year's LCM season rolls around, you will be more likely to swim an average Paul 50 as opposed to what is now what mathematicians call an "outlier" Paul 50.
Even a 27.0 would be something of an outlier, since your fastest time before the 26.53--and correct me if I am wrong here--was like a 27.3 or higher, right?
I hope you take this in the Thorpe Jr.-Waves-A-Red-Flag-At-Phelps Jr. spirit in which I offer it.
