So, now that we are on the countdown to May 09 - who is coming and what do you plan to swim?
This will be my first US Master's National meet, and it happens to be happening in my back yard (at least very close to where I grew up and swam USA club). Over is San Luis Obispo now, but it's a short hop, skip, and jump over the foothills to Clovis!
It is pretty early yet, but I think I'll be going to Clovis and Indy both.
Clovis because it is near Yosemite and other national parks, and I think my wife and I will go on a short little vacation after...I have already secured a tentative agreement from my dad to see mini-me off to school! My sister also lives a couple of hours from Fresno.
Indy because it is a great pool and at a good time for me (well before school starts).
I don't know what I'll swim, I like to do 100/200 back, 100/200 fly and 200/500 free but I often have to modify those choices based on the order of events.
Clovis is looking like a no for me. Indy is a definate YES and Team Hot Tub might be making an appearance at Y Nats in Ft. Lauderdale instead of Clovis.
What is this pool like? It is at a High School pool. It must be some pool. I am kind of looking forward to Masters LCM Nationals in Indiana because it is a famous pool. Plus, it is not on the other side of the country like Oregan was. Indiana would be a 10 hour drive or an hour plane ride for me from Philly. I do like to do a road trip. Then again, who knows what will be going on in my life in the next year.
I will never show my face again at the Clovis pool.
I had a very traumatic USA Swimming nationals there in 1998 and do not want to relive the memories.
It's likely I will be in Indianapolis, with the goal of beating a certain 45-year-old in the 100 backstroke.
I made my one lifetime trip to Fresno last year. It's not an easy trip from the East Coast. Yosemite is pretty spectacular, however. I might do Indy, depending on how bad I really want to see you people in person.

No worries Jeff, the USMS '09 will be held at Clovis North High School, a brand new facility:

Leave the bad vibes cross town. :agree:

I along with Jeff have had a really bad Nats there many many years ago (prior 1990) and will pass on reliving the experience.
However, Indy is in. Team Hot Tub, Team Money in the house... And I agree with Hulk on getting down to FL for Y Nats!!

Not sure if you mean me or Ande or someone else, but I don't know why anyone would fear a wimpy breastroker. Whose butterfly is slower than his backstroke. :)
(Does this qualify as the earliest trash talk ever?)
