Colonies Zone LCM Champs

Good luck to everyone that is competing this weekend! Swim fast and have fun! I know that this sounds a bit crazy but I am really looking forward to my 800 free. Plus, with the pool going from 8 feet deep and higher, I will really be able to utilize my SDK in my 200 fly and the shorter freestyle events. You can't do the Phelps SDK when one side of the pool is 4 feet deep. Any tips about what kind of lunch should I eat before the meet or should I? On Saturday, warmup start at noon and the meet starts at 1PM. My last event might not be til 6PM. I have powerbars to hold me over throughout the meet. Should I get a light sandwich or salad before warmup.

A ton of fun - so good to see so many friends!
  • It was a good meet. Not alot of people but a very competitive field. Finally meet the Hulk. University of Maryland was a fast pool even though that pool felt like it was more than 50 meters. I am so jealous of my former age group teammates that trained at that facility. My college pool looks like a run down inner city pool compared to that place. The Visitors locker room is ten times bigger than my college's team locker room. I think that I will get 2 definite top ten rankings from this meet and I am crossing my fingers on the third. Right now, I am tenth in the 30-34 400 IM according to the USMS database but there are always three other faster swims that come in at Publication time. Question, what is with hotel's not putting fridges in the room? I guess that I have to stay at the cheap hotels to get a small fridge in the room.
  • So glad I got to meet some new friends and see old ones, too I hope you all have good swims today!

I'm glad I was able to go down to the meet and meet so many people from the forum--it was great putting faces to forum names and getting to watch you all swim...hopefully next time around I'll be back on the blocks as well!
  • I haven't seen the results posted,where are they?
  • I haven't seen the results posted, where are they? Peg said they will be posted at www.terrapinmasters.org tomorrow. Many PBs by forumites!
  • The email from Sunday night said that we will get an email when the results are done. That meet is over. Time to get ready for SCM Colonies Zones Championships in December. I am very inspired to keep chugging away to get faster with my performance this weekend. Plus, I still have to kinks to work out in my longer distance freestyles. Hope everyone that went swam fast. I am still dumbfounded by my 400 IM time. I didn't think that I could do a 5:41 right now. Of course, I have to work on my backstroke because my 100 back split was about a 1:30. Yikes!

I guess that I have to stay at the cheap hotels to get a small fridge in the room. I can answer both of those! 1 - Our Aquatic Facilities director Carrie, who ran the computers for the meet, has this really neato lazer tape measure thing. After the meet, I watched her measure a couple lanes - one was 50.000M and the other was 50.002M. 2 - this, from work... It's all about money. On one hand, it is one more appliance to plug in & service, one more job for housekeeping. Also, if the facility has a restaurant, its a way of encouraging the patrons to eat there, rather than bring their own food either from the store, or leftovers from another place.
  • A great round of applause for jeff and molly, allison (alison? alyson? allyson?) adams, meghan, jeff, molly, the various Dicks, and all the other tireless swimmer/organizers of the Terrapin Cup, which was an enormously entertaining weekend, despite Maryland's high crime rate. Indeed, if "Homocide" and "The Wire" hadn't been cancelled, I think we all know what would have made a GREAT episode on either of these gritty Baltimore-based crime dramas! Ripped from the headlines indeed! That is, before it could be ripped on a fatted abdomen! I refer, of course, to the unfortunate purloined FS Pro incident from the men's lockerroom. But other than this (what I am pretty sure the Catholic Church refers to as a "mortal" as opposed to a "venial" or "venal" or maybe "venereal" sin), it was a great great meet! Thanks. And please keep the crime victim posted on what the Task Force is currently doing to get me my suit back. cc: L. Livingston, Esquire
