It's official: Debbie Phelps endorsing Chico's
Baltimore Business Journal - by Rachel Bernstein Staff
While it may be no surprise to see Michael Phelps next on the Wheaties box, mother Debbie Phelps has struck an endorsement deal of her own.
Phelps, mother of the 14-time gold medalist from Baltimore, signed a year-long deal that is worth in the low six figures, said Jessica Wells, a spokeswoman for Chico’s FAS Inc.
Phelps will also be dressed by Chico’s for public appearances, including a taping of “The Oprah Winfrey Show” today.
Phelps, who said she has been a fan of the clothing store for years, was first spotted as a potential endorser when she spent the week in Beijing sporting Chico’s apparel. Phelps purchased her wardrobe at the retailer’s Towson location. The chain highlighted her selections on its Web site, dubbing the outfits as the “Debbie Phelps collection.”
