Have you been treating it? Icing it? Letting it rest? If so and it is not improving, then maybe you should not swim. If you haven't been doing that, why not?
Ice it. 10 on, 10 off, 3 cycles, twice a day. Take anti-inflamatories. Let it rest. As in don't use it unless you absolutely have to, that includes lifting things, operating a computer mouse, etc.
So here I am, a couple days before my first race, and my shoulder still hurts. Sprinting is not comfortable, and at the moment I would rather not take the risk of going all out with the adrenaline. I really don't know what to do. Drop out? I wanted to meet everyone and be friendly and all that, but the hotel and gas are a lot of money.
Thanks for the advice, Paul. I have been resting this week, except for some sprints today to see how it felt. No ice or NSAIDs yet, but I will ice it tonight and tomorrow.
See everyone in Portland! Looks like it's going to be a scorcher. I think I'll be spending as much time in my nice air conditioned hotel room as possible.
