carb loading/pre-meet nutrition

hi there, im a UK masters swimmer and was wondering how you guys prepare for a meet in terms of nutrition? do any of you carb load? Im curious as to whether it is worthwhile in the week of a competition. I normally load up about 2 days before my meet. Any insight regarding nutrition etc from across the pond would be greatly appreciated :)

I carb loaded in the local Witherspoons, and down at the pie and mash shop too! I am told that unless you're going "scientific nutso" about nutrition, you might benefit from a little carbing up 1 to 2 days before you swim.
