  • After last year's world champs, she said that she didn't enjoy swimming the 100 fly and 100 back so closely together. Personally I think that her 200 IM will be even more exciting than her 100 fly. Go Natalie!

Will Phelps really swim the 400 free? The 400 IM and 400 free are on the same day, separated by only the women's 100 fly. How about Natalie Coughlin swimming the 200 free and 200 IM against Hoff? We're in for some very exciting battles. I'm so excited, I'm almost nervous! Can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • possibly if they were wearing PRO's I'd say 3, 4 or 5 guys are going under 22 but with the LZRs, tracer rise, & nero comp there's definitely going to be more 9 days & 20 hours to go 50 Free is another loaded field --- looks even deeper than the 400 Free, but it's not going to be a great race itself to watch. I love watching the 50 Free for the excitement and power displayed - but I can't really enjoy the race. By the time I look at one or two swimmers it's already over. The 50, 100, and 200 Free are going to be the best semi-finals -- could it really take a sub 22.0 to make finals?
  • None of you noticed that Ryan Lochte is also entered in the 200 ***. 67 Lochte, Ryan 23 Daytona Beach-FL/DBS 2:20.61
  • The 50, 100, and 200 Free are going to be the best semi-finals -- could it really take a sub 22.0 to make finals ? I think you've hit this one. I think 21.99 or better will be needed just to MAKE finals. I think 21.58 will take it. I don't see anyone going faster than that, at least at Trials.
  • That is because nobody except for Breaststrokers are really interested in the event :joker: Evidently Lochte is.Also the 200 BR at the Olympics will be a must watch race with Hansen and Kitajima. In fact the trials 200 BR will be a must watch race to see how Hansen responds to Kitajima breaking his WR.

I think that's a feigned interest from Ryan. I can see Phelps swimming the 100 free and 100 back in the morning heats to put up times. Not only to consolidate his position on the 4x100 relay but to provide himself with two more potential paths to the medley relay.
  • The best race at Trials --- 400 Free Men --- The women's 400 IM should also be great and that's also the first night. The meet should start out with a bang! You've got to figure Katie Hoff will win, but there are at least 5-6 girls with a realistic shot at that second spot. 1 Hoff, Katie 19 North Baltimore-MD 4:32.89 2 Beisel, Elizabeth 15 Bluefish Swim Cl-NE 4:36.75 3 Smit, Julia 20 Stanford Swimmin-PC 4:38.58 4 Leverenz, Caitlin 17 El Dorado Aquati-AZ 4:38.81 5 Kukors, Ariana 19 King Aquatic Clu-PN 4:39.51 6 Ohlgren, Ava 20 Auburn Universit-SE/BAC 4:39.69 7 Sandeno, Kaitlin 25 Club Wolverine-MI 4:40.85 8 Aemisegger, Alicia 20 Germantown Acade-MA/Pr4:41.65 9 Hersey, Kathleen 18 Swim Atlanta-GA 4:42.25 10 Knutson, Dagny 16 Minot YMCA Swim-ND 4:43.37
