Missed Lochte in 200 fly @ 2:03.14. I don't believe he nor Phelps will swim all these events. I see no reason for Lochte to swim 200 fly or 100 ***. I don't also believe that Phelps will swim 400 free. I wondered about that too......He has a legit shot in any and all of the 9 events he is in........ I think Natalie will rule the 200 IM.....

Phelps. Lochte, and Vendt are all entered in the 400 IM and 400 Free on the first day. They may all prelim swim both and then decide to scratch--Phelps and Lochte more likely the 400 Free. I would venture that of all, Vendt would attempt the Sunday night final double, aside from the 1500 one week later one of these two events are his best shot to make the team. The Men's 400 Free looks like the most exciting race on paper--the 100 Free and 200 Free takes 6 swimmers for relays--with Keller, Jensen, Phelps, Vendt, and Vanderkaay entered a 3:43 may not make the team.

OK OK - let's settle down -- Phelps and Lochte are not swimming 9 events. Phelps and Lochte will not swim any 400 Free - Lochte is not going for any Fly or *** and Phelps will not swim Backstroke - it does not fit in the schedule. Phelps will go for his usual events - he may swim a 100 Free to show a time, but he may not swim finals in that either. Lochte has said that he wants to be on all 3 relays - so he may somehow swim the 100 Free - not an easy task though -- here is the day for the 100 Free 200 *** – men - FINAL 100 Free – women - semifinal 200 Back – men - semifinal 200 Fly – women - FINAL 100 Free – men - FINAL 200 *** – women - semifinal 200 IM – men - semifinal

    The best race at Trials --- 400 Free Men --- I think the best race has got to be the Men's 50 Free... look at this lineup! 1 Wildman-Tobriner, Ben 23 Stanford Swimmin-PC 21.80 2 Jones, Cullen 24 Mecklenburg Aqua-NC/NC S2ta1.82 3 Weber-Gale, Garrett 22 Longhorn Aquatic-ST 21.93 4 Brunelli, Nick 26 Sun Devil Aquati-AZ 22.01 5 Grevers, Matt 23 Tucson Ford Deal-AZ 22.01 6 Adrian, Nathan 19 Unattached-PN 22.01 7 Hall, Gary 33 Unattached-FG 22.20 8 Lezak, Jason 32 Rose Bowl Aquati-CA 22.22 9 Goodrich, Scott 21 Arizona Swimming-AZ 22.39 10 Woodward, Gabe 28 Bakersfield Swim-CC 22.49 11 Walker, Neil 32 Longhorn Aquatic-ST 22.49
  • Will Phelps really swim the 400 free? The 400 IM and 400 free are on the same day, separated by only the women's 100 fly. How about Natalie Coughlin swimming the 200 free and 200 IM against Hoff? We're in for some very exciting battles.

50 Free is another loaded field --- looks even deeper than the 400 Free, but it's not going to be a great race itself to watch. I love watching the 50 Free for the excitement and power displayed - but I can't really enjoy the race. By the time I look at one or two swimmers it's already over. The 50, 100, and 200 Free are going to be the best semi-finals -- could it really take a sub 22.0 to make finals ?

Interesting, I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that Phelps will swim the 100bk final. I don't think he will work in the 400fr or the 200bk but he just might consider the 100. He has really been working that event in the last few months. I think he has a world record in him. His 400 IM has been pretty shabby the last few months. I think Lochte will take him. I also think his teammate Vanderkay will take him in the 200Fr. We will see.
  • How about Natalie Coughlin swimming the 200 free and 200 IM against Hoff? We're in for some very exciting battles. I'm more surprised that Natalie isn't in the 100 fly. She's the American record holder!
