Is anyone having problems installing this Microsoft Silverlight to view the live video. I didn't have problems watching the prelims but installation keeps on failing. Silverlight won't install on my computer because it doesn't support my cpu. With all the video formats out there that work just fine they have to pick a Microsoft format that requires the SSE instruction set to work. :shakeshead: Prelims were shown using Windows Media Player which worked fine.

That was his younger brother in the IM. There are a litter of Vankerkaay's at Trials. Whoops! I totally forgot! They all look alike too! ;)

There are four Vanderkaays, and four Crippens! Only 3 Crippens are swimming. Fran, Claire and Teresa. Maddy retired after 2004 trials. 3 guys going 3:43 is wild yet...still 3 plus seconds outside thorpe's world record...goes to show what an awesome swimmer thorpe was in his day.

I think the 400 free was the race of the night, if only because Erik Vendt's last 30 or so meters were jaw dropping in their intensity. I was kinda hoping for Kleuh, if only because he was kinda an underdog, but alas, it didn't work out.

Here's the thing about Silverlight 1 (and probably 2). With the standard (non-Silverlight) embedded Windows media player plug in (as in prelims today), you can right click on the running video, go to properties, and get the video URL. Then open the stand-alone Windows Media Player program. Go to file, open URL, paste it in and voila, you can relocate it on your screen, resize it as you wish, instead of being stuck with the embedded version. Silverlight wont let you grab the video URL...So I uninstalled it. (I used this URL technique extensively for MLB TV.) It didn't work for me tonight until I installed the new BETA Silverlight 2. I already had Silverlight 1 installed, but it only gave me a blank screen until I broke down and installed the beta halfway through the first heat of the ***. I can't believe they make you install beta software to see it - very uncool move.

I'm just sick that Vendt didn't win the touch. I'll be praying for that guy in the 1500. He really deserves to be in Beijing this year. I predicted Lochte would beat Phelps. Now I have to chew leather. What a feakin monster of a swimmer. Phelps is just amazing. What a freakin competitor. Did I hear Rowdy say that Phelps wasn't tapered? Its gonna be a fun week.

Wow! Lochte's turns are just awesome. He annihilated Alex Vanderkaay on that backstroke turn!
  • Anybody keeping up with how the masters swimmers are doing? I saw that Laura Davis of Walnut Creek Masters swam a 1:01.04 in the 100 Fly prelims, which was a whole second faster than her seed time. That was good enough for 48th. It's amazing how tight the finishes are. There are at least 10 swimmers with a tenth of a second of her finish time. Susan Von Der Lippe did a 1:02.47, which was a tenth slower than her seed time, but still amazingly fast (of course). Go masters swimmers!
