The question now is..... will he talk and blow the whistle on others?

FORMER Olympic swimmer Scott Miller was under heavy police surveillance for almost two years before he and ex-rugby player Mark Catchpole were arrested in an organised swoop.

It was hard to tell from the article if this is some sort of steroid ring, like Balco, or simply a dude dealing illegal street drugs, which are mentioned as well.
I am astounded, especially after reading the following post in another thread:
It is a well known fact that Australian worship their swimmers. We have a relatively small population and our swimmers acquire star status. They cannot go anywhere in public without a mob af fans. I do not believe this happens anywhere else on earth, especially in the USA. Our swimmers can remain up there to be hero worshipped so long as they do nothing wrong. Even so we have a tall poppy syndrome and sadly take them back down again. Eamon's name would be mud, and he would be treated very badly by everyone here in Australia if it was found he was taking drugs. So much so that living here would be almost untenable. You have to understand us, our small population and the way we revere our swimmers, in order to understand that taking drugs to be number one in the sport is just not an option. My god, and Australians just HATE to be disgraced.
Yeah, it's important to keep up with those vitamins in the middle of a 5 day meth binge. ;)
Hey, you don't want a cold to interfere with your partying. That vitamin C is a real lifesaver.
Can't the same be said (at least to a great degree) for ex-convicts and former military personnel? I don't know to what degree the VFW is able to help returning military types, but from the stories on the news it seems their reach doesn't extend very far.

It seems like they were dealing in 'ice' and probably cannabis, too (why else would you have more than 274 kg's of the stuff in your home)? You can also add cocaine to that list (unless 4.5kg's is considered as only sufficient for personal use). Read this report:
Ex-olympian, rugby player in bust.
It seems that they only found a small amount of steroids. I might be proved wrong but it doesn't look like a Balco style PED case.
This case for me brings into sharp focus the lack of a transition for Olympians who complete their swim, skate, ski to great acclaim, achieving dazzling star status, and leave the arena of elite competition for normal living. He worked selling radio ads, selling cars, and finally back to being a barn hand. Sunday you are above the fold, Monday nobody knows your name. And you are unemployed. Some tiny number turn it around to become a surgeon, semi-survive in Hollywood, or skate with Disney, but for a much larger number, the next rung down the professional ladder is teaching at a local park district.
It's got to be one of the most difficult status changes known to humans. Wonder (idle thoughts over morning coffee emerging now) if something like the VFW, Veterans of Olympic Games, would be useful.
