Hulk and I just shook internet hands on a 50 free Nationals gridge. The winner will be whoever gets the bigger time drop from Zones. That's a 2.28-second advantage for him.
Anyone else gridging in Austin?
Also congrats to Fortress for nipping me by .04 in our 50 Free (her) vs 50 Fly (me) contest. She has revenged her .1sec loss at Colonies Zones.
I've challenged her to 100 IM tomorrow and I'm giving her 6.5 seconds (this MAY be a mistake but she was ready to scratch so I had to do something)

Looks like the jazz hands training routine and taper worked. Too bad his heat isn't on that video coverage site.
The seeding for some of the events is not the usual slowest-to-fastest. They seem to be sorted by age first, then speed.

Yes, at Nationals they seed the shorter events first by gender, then by age group, then by seed time (slowest to fastest).
The longer events (400IM, 500, 1000, 1650) are seeded first by gender, then by seed time.

Poolrat goes DOWN!!!! His 50 Fly (an admittedly not great swim) versus my 50 back (a new PB by over 1.5 seconds) so I smoked him by 2.61 seconds. Poolrat has kindly (if you take out the curse words) requested that I not post his time :-)
after day 2, Mel and I are neck and neck in the drinking gridge. I am handily avenging myself against Hulk -- who may be the meet's best cheerleader! Looking forward to my 100 fly gridge with FlyQueeen today. BTW, she had a major breakthrough in her 50 free!!!
I lost the 100 fly to fort by miles ... depressing. I'm training for it for next year starting next week. The break I planned of several months is now down to a week.

Wow, never was a really short time, huh? I knew you were gonna fold like a cheap lawn chair :groovy:

I think it was only never for about 10 minutes after the race ... then it was down to months ... now it's next week. When my threats involve races 100 yards or under they never last long ... unlike how I swore I'd NEVER swim a 400IM again after state 06 - still haven't!!!
I died like a dog in the 100 fly too, FAF.
I'm not swimming the 50 free until March 2009. Maybe I can learn to do a flip turn by then. I need a vacation from that event!
