Why do we continue to lead off the 2nd,3rd and 4th days of the meet each year with a distance event? I can think of NOTHING more deadening to the atmosphere of a swim meet than dozens of heats of 400IM and 500 free. We need to start the meet with the 50 freestyle and get the place rockin' !! Stick the long events at the end of the meet each day after the relay and give the majority of participants the opportunity to spend less time at the pool. Thursday, May 1, 2008 1. • Funny how the men do so much more complaining around here than the women. John has a highly developed complaint gene. He's probably also getting agitated over his Nationals taper.
  • fort you should trust your taper not fret about your taper John has a highly developed complaint gene. He's probably also getting agitated over his Nationals taper.
  • Oh, phhhht! I ain't scared o' you Hulk. I can lift my body weight & I'll bet you can't (hmmm, you may be able to lift mine though). Besides, you'll just be your alter ego the whole time in Austin. Distance Man keep telling himself that Hulk is weak. Hulk not weak. Hulk angry. Hulk go throw school bus now.
  • fort you should trust your taper not fret about your taper I'm not fretting about my taper. I'm fretting about my body parts. :oldman: I'm actually, for once, looking forward to taper. And I'm still really psyched for Austin.
  • Are you insane? This gives the sprinters time to sleep in! My sentiments exactly. If the timeline previously posted is true, I'll definitely be glad to sleep in through the 500s. No offense to the distance people. I'm sure you guys'll take off after the 400 IMS and 500s for a while. And Mel Dyck has officially made my day.
  • I agree with Fort & Jeff ... the distance events first allows me time to sleep. There is nothing worse than trying to sprint at the crack of dawn or early am. Two of the three ladies I am traveling with also swim short events but the third ... well, there's one in every crowd ...
  • All you sprinters are just jealous because we get our moneys worth out of our events!
