The Fall of Auburn

The women's team swims lights out at conferance and craters at NCAA's now the men are in a battle to finish 4th... No one ever revealed the entire story behind Marsh's departure...interesting that Quick was brought in mid-season...takes the rains...and now we see the results...so...one more year or is he gone after this season?

Says the person not using his real name. My name was once posted in full in my profile. Due to some threats being made to some other members, I pulled it. If you don't mind, I'll keep it that way. No. It is entirely relevant. When I first heard about this thread at the pool -- and I will not mention Brian Stack by name b/c I'm not one to gossip -- and how somebody took on Paul Smith, I thought, "What on earth is a scholar on Spanish television, Pedro Almodovar and Spanish Renaissance literature doing posting in a swim forum? 'Cuz it how does an anonymous poster think they'll be taken seriously when trying to slam somebody w/ so much knowledge and info about swimming? The reason why it's important is that Smith has been around this industry long enough to have met ppl in the know and to have heard enough rumblings to figure out that something probably is up. Probably? So let's go to an online swimming forum and start throwing around some ideas and suspicions at the expense of a well respected swim coach, based upon probably. People are entitled to do what they want, I am just suggesting that it's not something that I am entirely comfortable with. You may not believe this, but the fact that so many ppl use their real name and the fact that they are active in masters swimming actually curtails the "gossip" factor quite a bit. I've seen other boards w/ lots more gossip. Totally agree, but the safety and security of my family are far more important than any swimming forum. Btw:I've never met Paul (unless it was at a nationals/worlds meet in which he was introduced to me along w/ 4/5 other swimmers). But looking at his times  and how he dominates his age group I can see that the guy isn't talking out of his ***. Yes, because fast swimming is an indicator of one's ability to discern fact from suspicion. Please. Also, consider what's in it for a guy who is one of the most successful swimmers at the masters level to spend time on a swim forum and give out advice to novices and experienced swimmers and coaches alike? It's a love for the sport. And THAT, to me, speaks volumes. His participation on these forums doesn't stem from ego. So when he poses questions that lots of ppl have thought about, it's not to get scintillating details about a respected person in our community. I'm not trying to belittle Mr. Smith. I also don't question his love for the sport. My only point is that it seems irresponsible to be making these comments online without having some serious evidence to support such claims. :2cents:
