here's cesar's 18.47 relay lead off in lane 3 I love the enthusiasm of the folks around the video camera when they see his time Whoa... That 18.47 converts to 20.65 SCM, a WR... and a 21.27 LCM, A WR by 1/hundreth... Maybe Sullivan isn't the only man who can...

So would it be wise to suspect Cielo of doping along with what is becoming a long list of others? Move over Roger Clemens, swimming needs a congressional hearing just as badly as baseball it seems. ;)

So would it be wise to suspect Cielo of doping along with what is becoming a long list of others? That wasn't the intention of making the comparison... Just a few weeks ago 21.28 seemed impossible... Now another man has already bested the time... hmmm and look, similar technique?! The start has also been changed... Did you see how Sullivan did dolphin kick right to the surface, he didn't start the flutter as usual before breaking through... I wonder how much that counts? Not to mention it was quick dolphin up to the top, not very many SDK's at all.. Now I'll make a consession here, maybe if there was PED involved we wouldn't also see the breakthrough's in technique... just more power... although, that's not what I'm seeing... There really is a difference in the overall technical components of the race.
  • In the 200 *** I am picking Scott Span to win and I wonder if he can go under 1:52.50 and be near the American Record. He has dropped his time by 3 seconds and at the Big Ten Championship he went 1:53.17 to break the great school record by Mike Barrowman, which was an American Record for over 10 years. Wow! A three-second drop to go under an amazing record. Impossible. A college sophomore shouldn't be able to go that fast, or drop that much time. He must be on the same stuff Sullivan, Bernard, Trickett and Rice are on. :bolt:
  • I'm so proud of my bulldogs....the men were ranked 13th, seeded 11th based on entry times and ended up placing seventh! Going 1-2 in the mile and the 200 fly was such a thrill. Gil Stovall won the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:41.33, shattering the 17-year-old NCAA record of 1:41.78 set by Tennessee’s Melvin Stewart. The UGA women did well considering they had 9 freshmen! Hopefully they will get stronger year by year.

I must say I am a tiny bit surprised Texas didn't swim a bit better. They supposedly did not rest for the Big12s, one month earlier, which they won handily. Klueh swam very well. And Berens had some good swims. But the freestylers as a whole were merely "fast." I didn't expect another record in the 800 FR - since it was the first night of the Big12s. But they were not "on." Auburn on the other was truly a disappointment and followed the performance of the women a week earlier.
