Web delivery will be the future of swim coverage, eventually with the ability to display multiple camera views and on demand access. Hopefully we won't have to wait too much longer...

The ESPN2 coverage couldn't be any more dreadful. I hope this isn't an indication of what we can expect from NBC in Beijing. They can't show a whole 200? They showed the first 25 of the medley relay and the last about 10 yards. That was horrible, I'm feeling the NBC coverage will be great though. Swimming is one of THE big shows at the games.
  • What's the fastest 50 yd free relay split in history? I noticed Cielo went 18.19 in the finals of the 200 medley relay tonight.
  • Two problems with the "live" coverage: 1. I'm disappointed in the "live" video on the SW website. It refuses to try to run with Firefox (requiring Safari on Macs) and doesn't work with Safari. 2. The Colorado Time live scoreboard seems to be working better, but I noticed in the 200 medley relay that they gave the split at the first 25 but then didn't display splits at 75/125/175. Clearly they have touchpads at both ends of the pool. What gives? Skip

You can do that. In addition to OTA or cable HD programming, my 50" Sony HDTV is quite handy as a glorified HDTV PC monitor. Run an S-video cable and a audio cable from your computer to your HDTV, adjust the monitor setting (usually Alt +F4) and voila. Streaming video from the computer to the HDTV monitor I'd rather watch it on a big screen HD TV than a small computer screen.

Jeff, You're doing a great job with the camera. I appreciate the brief focus on each swimmer pre-race behind the blocks and the scoreboard shot at the end. Rich

Our "live" coverage is about 30 seconds to one minute behind the actual race at www.swimmingworldmagazine.com. For those who have been watching it, I hope you're having as much fun watching it as I am recording it! I noticed that in the 500, I had Colorado Timing up at the same time and I got confused with the difference, but the coverage is great appreciated. I'm super excited for the 4x200 relay tonight.
  • Having been to finals last night it's pretty clear Arizona is going to run away with this. If Texas even manages to narrow the gap I'd be surprised. Arizona just has all the momentum. Today's events probably favor Texas, but I don't think it's going to matter. Great team effort. Cielo's 50 split of 18.19 was impressive. When Auburn and Arizona dove in even after the fly leg you knew it was all over. Skip: did you see Marcin Unold from Oakland won consols in the 100 back with a 46.55? I'm sure a lot of people out there were going "Oakland? Where the heck is Oakland?" I remember their great sprinter, Hilton Woods, from when I was swimming in college.

The page you're watching the video on is run by the NCAA folks, so I'm not sure what can be done to make it compatible with Firefox and Macs. I know we were having similar complaints with watching SwimmingWorld.TV on Macs, but I think that problem's fixed. If you're still unable to watch the live feed on your Mac, I'm pretty sure you'll be able to watch the on-demand video we're posting of each race on our website. If not, let me know.

It works just fine on Safari for Mac. Don't see the issue of using Safari or Firefox. Swimming World TV uses an application called Flip4mac and it works just fine.
