Eamon didn't get to hold the WR mark for very long... swimnews.com/.../displayStory.jhtml
  • They naturally have the same hormone profile that a normal person would need drugs to get. And my guess is that elite athletes such as Bernard are more likely to be that way than the general population. This is what Floyd Landis alleged. Can a doctor on this forum comment on this notion that some walk around with hormone levels only obtainable to most via doping? It would seem there is a natural human range.
  • A longer vessel moves faster through water........... and, everything else being equal, the taller one will reach the wall(s) first. I would think the ratio of hull length to width would be more important, otherwise an aircraft carrier is going to be the fastest thing on the water. Anyway, I know the "longer is faster" line, I was just curious if Shaman had anything else in mind. In a race without turns I don't think height should matter other than the hull length issue.

It takes a very short time to build muscle. Here are a few quick transformations www.youtube.com/watch

im calling a 21.61, breaking a record two times in a row is tough. Has someone ever done that before? Yup. Tom Jager broke it twice in the same day...with a lot less rest than the french guy will get. He went 21.9...then 21.81. That stood til Alex Popov broke it in 2000.

The very nature of swimming...especially training like Bernard does (6-7000m per session) makes putting on muscle mass VERY hard.....especially when it happens in months not years. Maybe he has found some major breakthrough that we will hear more about in coming years? That's the part that puzzles me, too. Most people wouldn't be able to swim that much and get any heavier. However, some people are just very good at putting on muscle. They naturally have the same hormone profile that a normal person would need drugs to get. And my guess is that elite athletes such as Bernard are more likely to be that way than the general population.

So why do you think their heights are a factor? Just curious. A longer vessel moves faster through water........... and, everything else being equal, the taller one will reach the wall(s) first.

and since he seems to improve in the final over his semis, does anyone think he'll break that 21.50 in the finals? im calling a 21.61, breaking a record two times in a row is tough. Has someone ever done that before?

One thing I'm keeping in mind is that AB barely got that 50 record and if he were Eamon's height he probably wouldn't have gotten it. One thing I like about these records are how even they are, 47.60, 47.50, and 21.50 not that it matters but I like it.
