The very nature of swimming...especially training like Bernard does (6-7000m per session) makes putting on muscle mass VERY hard.....especially when it happens in months not years. Maybe he has found some major breakthrough that we will hear more about in coming years?
That's the part that puzzles me, too. Most people wouldn't be able to swim that much and get any heavier. However, some people are just very good at putting on muscle. They naturally have the same hormone profile that a normal person would need drugs to get. And my guess is that elite athletes such as Bernard are more likely to be that way than the general population.
