my nails in my feet and hands seem to be chipping off, i'm not sure if that is the right term, but they seem to be somewhat kind peeling off...is it the chlorine that's causing this? or is it because i stay too long in the water (2hrs-3hrs) help please....

I think the dryness peels nails. I spend 2 hours in water everyday and it always screws withmy nails

Mine have been doing exactly the same thing...peeling off in layers...not brittle and chipping...I thought it might have been something in my diet but I get plenty of calcium. Perhaps it is the chlorine. Syd

I have no problems, but hey, wait...could it be because mine are manicured (with a neutral, no color polish)? In case anyone wants to know, I have no problems with my toenails either, they are also pedicured...billy (metrosexual) fanstone

I get this too, especially in winter. It helps to massage in some foot cream of the sort that is supposed to moisturize dry cracked heels - it's more heavy duty than hand lotion.

OMG---finally someone who is dealing with the same thing I have! I have been swimming up to 5 times a week for the last 2 years, often 1-2 hours and my nails are shot. They are peeling horizontally, as if layers of nail are coming off. I'm curious to see the responses you get to help with this.... :help:

i have to keep my nails super short, because as soon as I have any sort of nail growing, they peel and crack and get really brittle and gross. Now that im not swimming in pools (chlorine) for the next few months (mandatory rest period as per doctors orders) my nails seem much happier!

When I ws a little boy, my teenage sisters used to drink Knox Gelatin. A pharmacist who runs told me to use no shine Hard As Nails. I use it on my toes but not secure enough to put it on my fingers. It works on my toes really well.
