Rest and Recovery

Having given up competitive swimming in college for surfing (more bikinis), a landlocked job has me back in the pool with alot of unanswered questions. I'm 46 years old now, and doing about 2,000 meters a day. My biggest question is whether to rest a day when sore from swimming, or to just press on. I'll swim hard for a day or two or three and become pretty sore. Should I keep swimming, or take a day off for recovery?

  • Thank you for the info and advice, everyone! The help, support, and forum are awesome. I'm a guy, and viewing Bikinis and surfing stole my libidinous soul for thirty years. I know it was a dumb question, but I really wasn't sure if it would help or hurt to do a hard (for me) workout if I was sore from some preceding hard workouts. Sounds like I should ease up for a day for recovery. Thanks again, Bill aka Mookie
