Rest and Recovery

Having given up competitive swimming in college for surfing (more bikinis), a landlocked job has me back in the pool with alot of unanswered questions. I'm 46 years old now, and doing about 2,000 meters a day. My biggest question is whether to rest a day when sore from swimming, or to just press on. I'll swim hard for a day or two or three and become pretty sore. Should I keep swimming, or take a day off for recovery?

On the off chance that this isn't George or someone doing another catchy alias (this time of wookiee), here is the thread that addresses some of the concerns of women who are 46 years old and still wear bikinis. forums.usms.org/showthread.php Take a day off. Don't swim too many consecutive days in a row.
