Hey
This morning I had my last swim practice of my college career--that's kind of scary--all that time I was counting down days and praying for the end to come and now it's here. Tomorrow we leave for Rutger's University (we have a "warm-up" practice there in the afternoon, and then it's to the hotel to shave and rest up for the start of the Metropolitan conference swim champs.
(http://www.besmarttinc.com) Friday I'm swimming the 500free (seated 14th with a 5:30.) I feel pretty good about this race--I'm really happy it's the first day of the meet because I want to just get it done with and all. The school record is a 5:22.81, I don't think thats so unreasonable that its unachievable, but my goal is just to do a best time, and really work my walls and give it everything I got--we'll see where that puts me. We've also got the 200freestyle relay that day I believe. Saturday I have the 400medley relay (freestyle), 100fly (seated 19th with a 1:04.14) and then back to back with that is the 200freestyle (seated 20th with a 2:04.10ish) I think I definitely have room to improve in both of those events. The record in the 200free is a 2:00.21 which i missed by .05 two years ago...because the two individuals are back to back though, I am going to lead off the 800free relay that night, where I will hopefully have had a little more rest. And then Sunday all I have is anchoring the 400freestyle relay. I've got a brand new Fastskin II bodyskin to try out for the meet, and I feel like we tapered pretty well--I don't think we're as rested as in past years--we've been doing a lot of broken race pace things which we had dropped earlier in the taper in the past, but I think that might be beneficial in the long run.
I'll update while I am at the meet...but the website also has live results.

What times are your events this weekend? I am going home this weekend. I will try to watch after I get back to Rutgers on Sunday. I have a meet in Toms River.
Prelims all three days start at 9:30am and will run until probably around 1pm Finals start at 6pm. Sunday night the evening finals starts at 5:15pm with Senior Recognition stuff, then the swimming starts at 6pm again.
Have fun and good luck! I remember my last college meet. I found a room and stared at a blank wall visualizing my race. I was so focused that an hour went by and it seemed like seconds (a surreal experience). The race was the 200Br and I was seeded in last in the fastest heat. I finished 4th but finished with a PR. Have fun young lady, have fun!!!!
That's an awesome pool at Rutgers...you'll rock!
Yeah I really like that pool--the only trouble is is that they break up the girls and boys to make the meet go faster, and we alternate pools by day. Luckily the girls get the real competition pool (the 25yards that make up the first half of the 50m--if that makes any sense) the first and third day of the meet and only get stuck in the diving well pool on Saturday for prelims. Then at night we all swim in the competition pool. I don't really mind the diving well pool (its a fast pool where ever you swim really), it's just darker and the end lands to me are more daunting and I don't like the sloping floor appearance when I am swimming--maybe I should concentrate on swimming more than on where I am swimming haha!
Thanks for all the luck!
I post my blog here today just because my blogsite is down for the next few days and I wanted to still post somewheres.
Hey RedBird--thanks for the luck wishes. The blog name is just something I came up with last year when I started blogging elsewhere. But yes, next weekend actually I have a masters meet...so I don't intend this to be the end really.
We're at the hotel now, I got lucky and it's just me and one other girl so no sharing of beds or sleeping on cots. We went to the pool earlier and got in:
500swim stretch 300swim
2x200 kick (100fly/100free)
12x25 drill @.40
6x50 pace @.50
8x25 @.30 (4-breakout sprints 4-finish sprints)
4x12.5 starts with a breakout
2150 yards
Now we're waiting on dinner and then I will shave down! woot!

Best of luck, but more importantly, drink it all in, regardless. College truly is a once in a lifetime event, and as you continue these "last" events up through your graduation, may you enjoy every second of it!
Now about the name of your thread... sounds like your swim career will continue?
