Hey
This morning I had my last swim practice of my college career--that's kind of scary--all that time I was counting down days and praying for the end to come and now it's here. Tomorrow we leave for Rutger's University (we have a "warm-up" practice there in the afternoon, and then it's to the hotel to shave and rest up for the start of the Metropolitan conference swim champs.
(http://www.besmarttinc.com) Friday I'm swimming the 500free (seated 14th with a 5:30.) I feel pretty good about this race--I'm really happy it's the first day of the meet because I want to just get it done with and all. The school record is a 5:22.81, I don't think thats so unreasonable that its unachievable, but my goal is just to do a best time, and really work my walls and give it everything I got--we'll see where that puts me. We've also got the 200freestyle relay that day I believe. Saturday I have the 400medley relay (freestyle), 100fly (seated 19th with a 1:04.14) and then back to back with that is the 200freestyle (seated 20th with a 2:04.10ish) I think I definitely have room to improve in both of those events. The record in the 200free is a 2:00.21 which i missed by .05 two years ago...because the two individuals are back to back though, I am going to lead off the 800free relay that night, where I will hopefully have had a little more rest. And then Sunday all I have is anchoring the 400freestyle relay. I've got a brand new Fastskin II bodyskin to try out for the meet, and I feel like we tapered pretty well--I don't think we're as rested as in past years--we've been doing a lot of broken race pace things which we had dropped earlier in the taper in the past, but I think that might be beneficial in the long run.
I'll update while I am at the meet...but the website also has live results.

Back from round 1:
200freestyle relay: split a 26.29 (not that happy with that time...but...)
500freestyle: 5:28.52 (was hoping to drop more time)
400Medley Relay: split a 57.51 (which means I'm probably gonna be taken off that relay because the girl in the B relay did a 56. something--which sucks since we broke the record this morning, but...whatcha gonna do)
Gotta swim again in a few hours.

Back from Round 2:
200freestyle relay: split a 26.0
500freestyle: 5:26. something (and moved up 3 places)
Got taken off the 400medley relay and they rebroke the record we set this morning but it's fine, I got a long warm-down in and rested up for tomorrow (200free, 100fly, 800free relay)
Thanks for the update! I'm not knowledgeable enough to respond to the times you've put up, but it sounds like you're feeling pretty good at this point in the meet. :applaud:
Good luck with today's events!
Regards, VB
Last night I didn't get any more than 4 hours of sleep :-o >:-0 I laid in bed and just got more and more pissed as the clock ticked by and I stayed awake!
But I did alright this morning (my pnemonia is really getting to me and the back to back events really killed me, but...)
100fly: 1:03.12 (seated 17th going into tonight (moved up from 19th))
200freestyle: 2:04.84? (added some hundreths which sucked, but I had maybe 10minutes between my 100fly and the 200free so, I guess all thing considered--somehow even with adding time I managed to move up 6 spots (20th-14th) so tonight I am in the conselation B final which is good for our team and hopefully i'll get some more rest in between the two events)
Tonight I also am leading off the 800freestyle relay (let me tell you...3x200freestyles in one day SUCKS)
I tried to nap in between the sessions but couldn't fall asleep again?!?! I think my back is so knotted up and tense that that might be causing the sleeping problems...oh well, tomorrow all I have is the 400 freestyle relay.
I went 2nd on the 200free relay yesterday.
Alrighty back from finals:
100fly: stayed 17th (we can't move up--locked heats) dropped a little down to a 1:02.9
200free: moved up to 13th and dropped over a second: 2:03.4? (not a best time or anything near it, but I'm happy enough to end on season best times.
on the 800 free I did a 2:04.1 (dead tired) we did end up breaking our school record though, so that was nice.
Tomorrow just the 400 freestyle relay--hopefully I swim fast enough in prelims to stay on the relay ((Damn freshman))

Congratulations on the great meet! Glad to see you got to set some records for the school. If they go up on your board, make sure to take a picture, as later in life you might get a chuckle out of having had your name on the wall.
