I am looking for some guidance on entering a seed time for the 500 Free. I have never swum the event in competition and do not want to be too far off from what it should be.
I know this might not be enough information, but I just want to have a rough, conservative idea:
Best Times:
100 yd Free 1:02 (29/33)
200 yd Free 2:27 (33/37/39/38)
I don't even have a practice time, but I can tell you I tend to be a little better at shorter distances in practice than longer distances.
Any help would be appreciated.
Rob..can I get you to come up with seed times instead of using the converters? This might be a new career path for me… professional seed time estimation.
Until I get this off the ground, her are a few basic rules of seed time fabrication:
1) Times that end in .00 are bad, 0.00 is worse and 00.00 shows a total lack of originality (e.g. 3:00.00 in the 200 IM, how boring)
2) Palindromes are good – 2:59.52 in the 200 IM is good
3) Birthdays are good (assuming you are lucky enough to have one that works) – e.g February 12, 1973 could be a great birthday seedtime 2:12.73
4) Prime numbers for hundredths are good
5) Lottery numbers can be used – Georgia’s Fantasy 5 numbers of 5-11-19 could be used by Paul Smith for his 500 free seed time.
More advanced seed time fabrications, such as multi-event fabrications and full season fabrications will be offered as a premium service.
