Hello to everyone,
This is my first post on this board so here's a quick intro before my question.
Stats: Male/33/6'/175lbs/Toronto, ON area. I am new to Masters swimming/training, (4 months) but not new to the water. Lifeguard, SCUBA/freediver, more at home in the water than out, should have been a swimmer but somehow got involved with bodybuilding - the last sport on Earth I have genetics for, but I did 16 years in the gym when I shoulda been in the pool.
Now I have found Masters - better late than never. I have been swimming for about 4 months now and LOVE it! I was made for this sport in every way, shape, and form.
My first question is pretty basic, concerning goggles. I have Speedo AirSeal's and they are great - however they leave marks around my eyes for up to 6+ hours after swimming. I look ridiculous. If I loosen them they leak, especially pushing off the wall, ie: *** pullout.
Any ideas/tips/suggestions?? Should I shop around for a different pair? They seem to fit/work fine except for the marks. Is this just part of the sport? (No one else seems to have marks as crazy as mine though...)
Glad to be a part of this forum and Masters Swimming. I know little about swimming (but learning very fast) and my forte is weight training and nutrition if anyone has questions about those areas.
I found the recent thread about slimming down to swim faster very interesting. I plan to keep hitting the weights 3X/week and even compete in fitness modeling as I jump into Masters swimming, but do not plan to add any more muscle, unless the swim training adds some. I don't think it will.
Planning to learn as much about swimming as I do about weight training & bodybuilding. This is my sport!
Swim Fast!

after you swim and shower....
take a wash cloth
soak it in ice cold water
press on your face for a couple of min.
repeat
don't ask me how it works, but it does for me
could be that it reduces the swelling?:dunno:
