Tips on swimming faster?

I've only been swimming (trying to swim properly) since January 07. I've just about got my freestyle technique ok, but I don't seem to be swimming very fast. It takes me about 15mins to swim 1.5km in a 50m pool. Can anyone give basic tips on improving speed? Maybe it's as simple as swimming more, I'm currently only swimming two or three times a week, with two of those sessions with a squad (in the speed challenged lane)! Oh, I'm also more of a runner (marathon and shorter long distance runs), and am trying to improve my swimming speed to feel more confident about competing in triathlons. Any advice appreciated.:fish2:

I think that's a typo but if you can do that we should be getting advice from you there's maybe 5 or 10 people on the planet who can do that we need more info about you put a video of you swimming up on youtube Ande I've only been swimming (trying to swim properly) since January 07.
