Here's a thread for the ladies to discuss anything that relates to women and swimming. For example, feel free to discuss how disgustingly ugly fastskins are, how the "curse" can kill a meet, how suits don't fit, how swimming wrecks your hair, how hormones unhinge you, etc.
Plus, why go from using technological advancement back to the stone age?
BTW, saw the new B70 Kneeskin for women. It's like the paper suit of the '80s. I'm too old to fool with this nonsense.
I have no idea ... I've never understood why swimming is only pure in a tank or brief.
I only have two meets left in SCY. I had the first inkling of going into mourning this weekend. Plus, I feel like much of my training -- SDKs, streamlining -- is better suited to tech suits. I don't even want to try on a kneeskin. :( I've never worn one.
Meet was tech suit crazy this weekend. I saw most all of my friends in all different types of tech suits including people switching among tech suits from the FS Pro to the B70 to the Jaked.
Yeah, it's my impression that masters that compete love their tech suits. Nice that people who don't compete seem to contribute to dictating what we wear. Even our ED doesn't think they're a barrier to entry.
There's being overly-modest in the locker room and then there's going a bit too far in the opposite direction. I thought my mom was going to have to go into therapy after 98 Nationals and the sight of the naked lady with one leg up on the sink counter shaving her legs...
That woman wasn't actually a swimmer. I have it on inside information that USMS paid her to go in and shave her legs in that manner as a way of reducing the chance of guys like me accidentally wandering into the women's locker room.
I am still being treated for PTSD.
what happened today in the locker room
any great gossip
ande
Killed a coupla cockroaches.
One more light bulb burns out and we'll be tiptoeing, listening for the rustle of tiny feet in the dark.
:D
Are any other women bummed about the FINA tech suit ruling?
Uh me. I'll have no need for meets now. Got enough competition training in my poly during practices. Plus, why go from using technological advancement back to the stone age? As one of my friends said this past Auburn meet, it would be like making tennis players go back to the wooden racquet. I'll pass. At least I have a high tech car. Hope no one decides it's too advanced and tries to take it away from me. HA!

Funny the differences in the generations. I went on a trip with my grandmother at 13 and we shared a hotel room. When I went into the bathroom to change, my grandmother gave me a big lecture about being too modest. She considered extreme modesty a character flaw. My other grandmother thought I wore too much make-up and told me that only the very insecure felt the need to wear heavy make-up. Their generation went through the Depression and WW II, so guess they figured out there were more important things to worry about.
Couldn't resist visiting this thread.
One of my writers goes to the same gym, and she complains about some women walking around naked in the locker room, which seemed utterly bizarre to me. And she's my age.
I asked about it, and she said, "Well, you know, sometimes there are kids in there." So? Like girls don't know what women look like?
In my experience, it's not an issue in men's locker rooms.
I remember one kid who put his towel around his waist and changed like that, and it just seemed very weird. I recognized him as one of the fresh-faced Christian kids who works at the Chik-fil-A, but I have no clue if that background makes any difference.
But like someone else said upthread, if he hadn't done that, I wouldn't have noticed him.
Otherwise, everyone changes out and nobody cares.
Especially the old guys, the Greatest Generation men... they're much more likely to walk to and from the showers with no towel, putz around in the buff, etc. They can't be bothered. And it's not like they're showing off their buff bods or anything.
The one thing I do take exception to, however -- and it always seems to be older fellows doing this -- is using the benches while naked. I mean, can't you put your drawers on first? Or lay down a towel or something?
Jim how did she shave her legs when she only had one leg?? Did she bring the other leg in her back pack???

Shut up. Your post is an insult to every living being with more than two neurons.
Right on! Shut up. Stop hiding behind an alias. And pick a forum name that doesn't resemble mine. Or do you not have enough neurons for this task?
