Here's a thread for the ladies to discuss anything that relates to women and swimming. For example, feel free to discuss how disgustingly ugly fastskins are, how the "curse" can kill a meet, how suits don't fit, how swimming wrecks your hair, how hormones unhinge you, etc.

I have a black tie event at the end of this month and I need some opinions. I've purchased my dress - it's a kelly green... shoes & purse are silver... I honestly don't know what color to put on my nails & toenails. I'm getting a mani & pedi (can't wait, never had them done before)...
I really don't want to get a french manicure because EVERYBODY paints them that way lately... any recommendations???
:D:D:D
Ooooh, a fegirly topic!
Don't listen to Stud. Hooker red with green?! Look, I know bright red and pink are in for nails, but if you have a green dress with red fingernails, you'll look like a xmas tree.
There seems to be serious nail schizophrenia at the moment. I thought french was still "so 80s," but a recent issue of Vogue said they were making a comeback. Light metallics colors are very popular and, conversely, Chanel blue and red are in. Are you one of the fegirls that has to have her fingers and toes match in color? (very LA). I'm not, so I usually opt for bright pink toes and clear, light pink, french, or beigey nails. However, it's possible that some of the new blues might look nice with kelly green. I like blue and green together.
If you've got a silver purse and silver shoes, you might want to go understated on the jewelry and keep it simple. Although some (not me) look great in those statement necklaces and tiny earrings.
As to pregnancy/shoe issues, I went up a half size with each pregnancy. Argh. I was crushed, as I rather like shoes and boots. But my sister was very happy.
...my hyper-mobility MIGHT have been increased with 3 pregnancies and that the tendons might not re-tighten. Hyper-mobility is apparently good in youth, not so good when you're older :oldman: because it makes you injury prone. Anyone noticed any change after pregnancies?
Oh yes. Feet widened/arches dropped. Knees were affected, too - patellas slide inwards. I have had many recent bouts with tendonitis. Hard to say if it is due to pregnancies, as I did sprain both ankles as a teen.

You can never go wrong with "Hooker Red" on long nails...
:mooning: hehe
Yellow and Red go very nicely with Green.
You can go as the Mexican Flag.

Good point about the Xmas theme... I'll stay away from the red. I do paint both feet and fingers the same color when I really dress up - I may have to wear a similar colored item to the salon and match it up there. I may lean towards the paler colors just to be on the safe side. As for the jewelry, I'm keeping it simple - it's a halter dress, so I don't need a necklace - I have a new ring from my husband that's a sea green & silver that will go PERFECTLY with the outfit (actually I purchased the ensemble around the ring)... but I will not wear earrings, I can't stand them - plus I may wear my hair down. My feet have not changed at all from the pregnancies - still 9.5 boats... but at least they're really narrow!
