where are Nationals in 2009?

I was wondering where USMS nationals will be in 2009?
  • (And what an awesome website those Oregon Masters have. Fort, I'll have to pass on your compliments to Robbert, the OMS web master. He does a good job keeping up with the changing web site. (by the way, that's my logo in the middle of the page). Alison, I think Fort was talking about The Watering Hole, a site Doug Brockbank set up a while back. Good pictures and videos of the emerging Oregon swimming dynasty: http://oregonmasters.ning.com/
  • I don't think you need to qualify that with "emerging." Oregon is amazing. Lotsa smokin fast chicks my age too. :applaud: I think the video, photos, blogs, etc. are a fabulous addition.
  • I carpool to Indy every summer. I'll swing down and pick you up on my way. If I'm still on this planet, I'll be driving to Indy so a car-pool sounds like a great idea. Paul
  • Absolutely. Yeah, most of us will probably need to make a connection to get to Fresno. Big deal. It isn't the travel part: I don't mind going out west. It is the nearly inaccessible sh**hole part. Seriously. Have you been to Frenso? Okay, actually, I lied. It is the travel part. On principle, I don't think national meets should be held someplace where anyone flying from a major airport would need a connection. That means anyone who doesn't live near a major airport is looking at two, and considering people are flying across the country anyway, that seems to me too restrictive to be inclusive, which is what Masters Nats are, no?
  • Nats in Indy sounds great. That is a fabulous pool. I don't know anything about the Fresno pool and since it is SCY I don't care.LCM RULES:bouncing::bouncing::bouncing:
  • I was just at the FAT airport in June. It is very small and nice. Parking and rental cars are ultra-convenient (most large strip malls have larger parking lots). I don't know a thing about the pool facilities but I can attest to Fresno being somewhat difficult to get to from the East Coast. There are plenty of flights but you do have to take a couple of segments to get there. It's only 90 miles from Yosemite, which would be a neat side trip for a few days. We were out there for a wedding in Yosemite, pretty spectacular.
  • Sure, it's not quite resort material. Having said that, Bakersfield, Huron, and Coalinga are just a hop-skip-jump away from Fresno. Plenty of nightlife, culture, and entertainment within those cities. You're kidding, right?
  • ....Plenty of nightlife, culture, and entertainment within those cities. If you're a cowboy, you should fit right in.

Then find another facility to make a bid. We need to be thankful right now that someone did bid so we can have Nationals. It sucks that there was only one bid for SCY and one for LCM. The Clovis pool has hosted a few big meets - I hear it's a great pool. I'm going to do my best to attend. We'll see.

I haven't been there since USS LCM Nationals in 87, but from what I remember, I really liked the pool.
