Dara just one the national title in the 100M Freestyle in 54.4 at the ripe old age of 40. Simply Incredible. :applaud: :woot: If that's not inspiring I don't know what is.

That video is too funny!! Wonder if any of the women that Dara swam with have gotten in her face about what she is doing. You have a Dara obsession.

I come from the Dr. Laura school-of- thought. I don't think she is in the dark ages, but she scolds women about not focusing enough on their families. I wonder if Dr Laura is spending enough time with her kids instead of telling the rest of us how to behave!:oldman:

How about changing that line from 'giving up thier career' to 'changing career tracks'. The only thing someone 'gives up' when deciding to become a full time caregiver, is a paycheck. Plus let's ditch the 'stay at home' portion here, my wife is almost never home between swimming practice, soccer practice, doctor's appointment, music lessons, after school activities, etc. Y'know Paul, you ought to get your wife out doing some mowing and painting and swimming 5 nights a week then she'd be equal to a SAHD, like me! Oh I PT as a lifeguard too! ;) :p

Let's review: Dara has been accused of the following.... Doping in the 2000 Trials/Olympics. Doping in the 2008 Trials/Olympics. Not actually being very good when she was young. Being a cheater. Being a liar. Being a golddigger. Not being humble enough. Having abs that are too big. Being a bad role model. Being a bad mother. Being a bad wife. Then came the post accusing USMS of being a Liberal conspiracy that was trying to squash conservative opinions. And with that one post, this thread officially moved from being merely a pathetic spectacle to one of pure comedy gold! Bwahahahahaha!! Pure. Comedy. Gold! Keep it up guys...this is awesome.:wine:

Not only is it obvious that Paul has had too much coffee...but also painfully clear that the man just has too much time on his hands. If he spent as much time in the pool than he does on the forum, he would (maybe) be able to beat Dara in the 50. OMG! OWNED!! Now that's funny! Mrs Stud would likely shoot me down too, except, called me "friggin Mark Spitz" because I got into a rant about her messing up my swim schedule for a meal out or something!

You know for the past few days I've been reading the silly banter of doubting minds and it appears conclusive that many people prefer to be confused rather than living with crystal clarity. For example, I saw Dara swim fastest at 41. I suppose it is easier to doubt, that would make Dara's accomplishements more tolerable, or even easier to relate to, something that might one day be possible for everyone... Never! Even if people drank a gallon of PED's every day, I DOUBT anyone could repeat Dara's accomplishments. Why? Because Dara has a gift, she is the greatest female sprint swimmer of all time. Nice baiting! Er, are you? I'm not sure irony is your thing. I'm not confused, doubt anyone else is either. I'm crystal clear that the situation is somewhat surprising and/or ambiguous. You must have flunked existentialism. Fort, HC is toying with me...wants me to post really...

I know! And it was Elise herself who said she was "stuck in the dark ages." Meanwhile, Elise and I have something in common. We're both obsessive. :D (And we have a speedy mutual friend. :) ) Thanks for reminding me, Paul, that I'm mostly wasting away financially while I bake cookies and carpool. How will I afford meet fees? Your obsessiveness(is that even a word...lol) is completely different. You obsessive about being open minded, giving people the chance, letting each individual make up his/her own mind and not being judgemental...

Sucked you in though didn't it? Even got the legendary Tim Garton to make his first ever post...good friggin stuff!! Contrary to what most people probably think when they dare to venture in here is that the vast majority of us have met and in many cases have become friends (except for Geek, who's only "friend" is his $7000 tricycle)...and this kind of banter...usually...should be taken as good discussions smothered in sarcasm, barbs, baiting and anything/everything lese that keeps (most) of us coming back. Hi Paul. This is Dave Swenson. I swam with John Smith at Texas. I know him well...probably too well. I also know Ande, Anna Lea, and probably a few others on this board. I finally got back into Masters swimming this summer after a LONG layoff....we'll see how long it lasts. This thread has now reached the point of obsurdity... but I'm LOVIN' IT!!
