Dara just one the national title in the 100M Freestyle in 54.4 at the ripe old age of 40. Simply Incredible. :applaud: :woot: If that's not inspiring I don't know what is.
  • There ain't a shred of evidence out there at all....end of story.....:dedhorse: Ask M. Jones where her story ended, or Barry Bonds. Nothing wrong with a critical eye towards unprecedented accomplishments, especially in a day and age where almost every single super human sporting achievement of the last decade has been proven a lie. I recall last summer on this forum as holding out Roger Clemens as a pillar of responsibility and hard work at an older age for sports. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.
  • No, the reality is she won, and conventional wisdom proves she is clean! Yes, but we're attempting to set aside convention and have a theoretical discussion.
  • Equating the mistakes a few people made as being universal, that's just foolish. Guess I'm tired of being played the fool by athletes. There are just too many odd side show stories for me to take it at face value. That doesn't make me a fool or you a fool, but it does mean Stud is a fool.
  • It is a total fallacy to compare her achievements to impressive performances by USMS swimmers. It is not even remotely close. If that is the basis of your belief in her achievements, you are starting from the wrong point. I have never seen a single elite USMS swimmer on this forum (and they are well represented with the Smiths, Fort, Chris S, Jeff C, etc) claim they could come close to their lifetime bests from their 20s.

I agree there is a difference. Below is a blatant accusation. White Buffalo Participating Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Posts: 22 Re: Torres out of 100 Data and Comparative data never lie. To equate what Torres is doing to a male would be for the 40-44 year old Master's WR holder (53.5) in the 100 freestyle, Rich Saeger, (1984 Olympian and Gold medalist) to swim a 49+ 100 meter freestyle. I believe he would confirm-no way. Her first three Olympics she swam relays. She swam individual events in 2000, took 6 years off, had a child, and 2 surgeries in the past 10 months but is the fastest American women ever- you believers are simply "off the reservation" as it is performance enhanced.

Does anyone have proof-positive on this? Did anyone else notice that Dara's partner was MIA for all but the beginning of Trials? They showed him the first night in the stands with Tessa and the rest of the Torres' - and he wasn't to be seen again. Maybe he was elsewhere in the stands or had to go back to work... The NYT article on Dara had a quote from him gave me the impression that he was sick and tired of this training thing, since all Dara's time was focused on that and nothing on him. She calls him her "partner" and not "boyfriend." She wanted to start her family w/o committing to him (aka marriage). I wonder if that relationship is on the rocks.

How exactly does her personal relationship with a man relate to swimming? Aside from showing that she is perhaps more dedicated to swimming than to her BFF.

No, the reality is she won, and conventional wisdom proves she is clean! Being a realist is not necessarily associated with being unhappy or sad or bitter! What's wrong with questioning things? Who wants to blithely or blindly accept what others say without independent analysis? No reason to put the brain in storage! And there's really not "proof positive" for virtually anything in life. Sure there is proof in life, that's the very nature of being alive.
  • Like others on here have said already.....How many others have tried the regimen that she is doing? Not many from what I know......so who is to say that the Smiths, Fort, Jeff or anybody else in here could not have some surprising results using her formula. I have never ever said she is doping. I have said her achievements warrant great scrutiny, as with every single recent notable sports accomplishment. And, that has been the tenor of almost all the skeptics on this forum. That's opposed to those who put their heads in the sand and proclaim her to be their hero. What exactly makes her heroic anyway? She's an unwed mother who has spent $100K on a selfish quest, that doesn't make her heroic, focused and talented yes, but not a hero. Again, your choice of words sinks you. What exactly is "surprising?" If you are caught off-guard by her results, then you too are scratching your head. Oh yeah, it's cause she does a lot of stretching. When you continue to modify how you describe her it becomes extremely hard to follow. Is she an anomaly? Is she surprising? If she and her doctor sugar daddy are on the outs, it might be surprising to hear his comments. So many surprises to ponder.
