Dara just one the national title in the 100M Freestyle in 54.4 at the ripe old age of 40. Simply Incredible. :applaud: :woot: If that's not inspiring I don't know what is.
  • Oh man... that post is funny on so many different levels, that you don't even know. So Swensmobile...rumor has it that your "comeback" has inspired some Gators...Switzer said something about me and the mobile in the mile next year..chomp, chomp?!
  • In the interest of trying to make sure that this becomes the longest thread ever, I'd just like to say that I think that the "Dara doubters" have missed the obvious and perfectly legal explanation for her performance: She is a late bloomer with a high VO2 max. (For you newbies, this has a long and PAINFUL history.) -LBJ GULP!

Interesting you use the BALCO thing as your support when surely you know it took the better part of the decade for that to come out. I guess that is convenient to ignore. Much of BALCO is even still sealed. Yet, you demand someone from her entourage come out within 2 weeks of Trials. And, it remains very obvious you either don't read these posts or forget them. It was posted that she has historically been the cutting edge of supplementation, including now. It's not like we are just examining this cause we are bored. Further, to categorize our position as "It's never been done before" is continued proof of naivete. But, you continue to simplify it while we continue to think critically. Good to have the yen and yang. Ok, let's do this a different way.......... You are the prosecuting attorney.....tell me how you would present your case to the jury to make them believe you..........

It's much more complex than A) she's my hero B) I really like her C) she's volunteered for extra testing D) she does neat stretching. If you ignore the posts by the more bombastic posters (like me) you would easily see there is much to scrutinize and this is offered by many people with both substantial elite level swimming experience and significant connections to the elite swimming community. The continued "she has never tested positive" mantra is ridiculous since all of us have agreed to that for about a year now. Let's get under the covers, not under the sand. So, other than the same old "It's never been done before"...you have nothing? Show me a commnet from someone in her entourage....her link to Balco or something that would give even an inkling of a doubt about her legitimacy and I'll entertain the idea......until then I keep hearing:blah::blah::blah::mooning:

It's always easier to take the simple approach. Rainman - good post. My only comment is that the consequences of doping are rarely enough to discourage it. You are entirely correct in that the collateral damage would be significant. It is of no help that the Tour is turning out to be drug laced again just weeks before the Olympics. But, I think I'm one of the dozen people in the US that watch the Tour anymore. And just how is that "the simple approach?" I have taken every post written here, every piece of evidence into account, and still come up with the belief that she is clean. What facts or information are using to believe the opposite? Since yours must be so complicated compared to my simpleton point of view.....

Sports inhallers must work or why would Peak Perormance sell them bodybuilding.com/.../si.html Human Performance Lab testing results and published university research studies indicate "inhaling peppermint vapors" can improve an athlete's "speed, strength and endurance" and decrease fatigue. Mood and motivation are major factors in improving an atheletes performace and the psychological changes associated with inhaling of pure peppermint vapors result in measurable improvements in an athletes performance. Not a spray. Inhale through nose. Not sure if I should just laugh or be angry that people sell, and of course buy, such stupid crap.

Like breastroker, I have not posted in a while - years in fact. I despise doping. Between doping and money we are seeing the ruination of sports such as cycling, track, and swimming. However, with everything we have had presented to us via various media outlets, and knowing the USA Swimming reputation for clean swimming, why are we to cast so much doubt over Dara's recent accomplishments? I won't lie, I was suspicious at first, this is after all uncharted territory. But after reading the articles, hearing the interviews, and realizing that she's racing the 50 and 100 freestyles, I just can't believe that she would risk becoming the most shamed, grandest sporting fraud of all time. She would be ruined, and unless she desires to live the remainder of her life as the most despised user of all-time, I can't see her having doped. Because of the embarrassment it would cause the following organizations - USA-S, USOC, USADA, they would want her head on a silver platter. I really believe that it would be the final straw in the doping mess. People have had it. Between Tour de France, USA Track and Field, Bulgarian weightlifters, enough is enough. The accomplishments of all athletes would be called into question if the lightest shred of evidence comes out that she could have doped. Phelps, Piersol, Coughlin, Hoff, all of them would lose so much just due to the guilt-by-association concept. I'm no optimist, I'm already sick of seeing her face everywhere, but let's give credit where credit is due. She would have to be the biggest fool on earth to be taking this risk, because it would mean everything - her life as she knows it would be over.

I would have thought so, but with over 1400 posts on the subject matter, it doesn't seem likes it's all that easy to accept the performance as genuine. I personally do. Then again, I was equally impressed with Barry Bonds until evidence began to show that he was associated with performance enhancing substances. I don't blame people for being suspicious given the drug infested climate in sports today. That actually kind of proves my point....Bonds had people around him saying they saw something.....most all of the people that eventually have come up positive in some way or another have had someone around them say they "saw" something out of the ordinary, or they heard them "say" something......I have not heard one person say they saw her doing anything that could be construed as illegal.
