Dara just one the national title in the 100M Freestyle in 54.4 at the ripe old age of 40. Simply Incredible. :applaud: :woot:
If that's not inspiring I don't know what is.
Disagree though where he says that she is "not as old as 41 in terms of accumulated injuries." Hasn't she had three surgeries because of "accumulated " injuries? I understood that she had two shoulder surgeries and a knee surgery.
He is much more of an expert than I, but I am also suspicious of the sports car analogy. Actually, I am suspicious when any expert tries to (over-)simplify.
He seems to be saying that -- in terms of longevity -- it is better to train lightly, or not at all, between major competitions and supports this with sports cars and Al Oerter.
Interestingly, many posters on this forum actually cite the fact that she has kept herself in top form throughout her life as a reason that she can still compete at the top level.
So who's right?
