Dara just one the national title in the 100M Freestyle in 54.4 at the ripe old age of 40. Simply Incredible. :applaud: :woot: If that's not inspiring I don't know what is.

  • I went to HS in the 70's, the weights were in the boys lockerroom at our school. Weight training was discouraged for women. I think weight training has made a big difference. Dara swam in college in the late 1980s. The weight and training program at Florida under Randy was more than just recently established by then. I believe both points are valid here. I swam at the same time as Dara. Women did do weight training. But, even in the late 80's at Cal, we women had to train on the circuit machines in the early mornings because they were located in part of the men's locker room. I think we were doing so somewhat on the sly, actually. Our weight room was also a bit of an antiquated dungeon. I'm not sure all of the facilities at most Universities were as easily accessible or as high quality for the women athletes back then.
