Dara Torres-Amazing

I haven't posted on these forums for almost 6 months, because of all the negative stuff about Dara, and almost anyone else over 23. I talked with her and her trainer during the 2004 trials, mentioning that she looked in good enough shape to beat the women sprinters, she just smiled:) Nothing pleased me more to see her win two sprint events. Like Dara, I was diagnosed with asthma when I was about 40, and let me tell you that no amount of albuterol or any other medication gives you an advantage over someone without asthma. All it does is let you get somewhat close to what you were before. There were days going to Nationals that I could not swim 15 yards underwater without my lungs wanting to explode. And with lots of preparation by the last days of Nationals I could easily swim several lengths underwater. Bottom line is some people are blessed with great genetics for swimming, and Dara was born fast, and unlike most of us, has never been out of shape.
