Jaeger,
it was great to meet you and sit by you at the Eddie V's dinner
Had a blast meeting and talking with all the awesome forum folks.
About the only negatives I can think of:
We drained the hot water at the end of the day (no surprise) so the showers were cold. And, it really hurts to come back to reality. I know that since I had to leave Sunday and am back slaving.
So much fun. I'm going to be glued to flowswimming during my free time for quite a while.
WooHoo, great meet. I enjoyed meeting everyone and wow, how much fun was it too swim in such an awesome pool and watch souch great swimming.
Although I missed Sat.'s dinner at Moonshine, I'm pretty sure I know what inspired the "stretching" discussion -- might be the most flexible "swimmer-in-speedo-briefs on the bench?
Now I have some faces to put with the names here on the boards. I'll introduce myself, you meet me as Kim (from Chicago area with Heather, Melissa & Mary). I haven't participated on these discussion threads in over a year. Good to be back and hope to stay in touch.
Congratulations to everyone on all the great swimming.:wave::wave:
I've still got my buzz from Austin, and I had to come home early today (Sunday). What a fantastic meet. How can you beat swimming as both a participatory AND a spectator sport?
And the post-swimming revelry was healthy as well. I thought it was only girls that peed their pants when they laughed. I've had enough belly laughs to last me quite some time.
Howdy Everyone! Just wanted to drop my first line and say thanks for a great 1st Nationals. It had been 15+ years since I was at the Texas Swim Center and it felt great to be back in a sport that I love so much and around people that feel the same way I do!
Entry Fees to USMS Nationals: $100.00
Airline Ticket to Austin, TX: $191.00
Room at the Double Tree: $300.00
Dinner at Moonshine discussing the stretching ability of other swimmer: PRICELESS!
thank you
it's been really fun
had a blast seeing everyone
This event has been the most incredible Masters meet I've ever seen, full of extraordinary people and mind-boggling swimming. Kudos to the hosts for running a top-notch event!
What an incredible time in Austin! Aquafeisty, Ande, Pool Rat and Paul Wolf - it was so much fun meeting you guys! I really enjoyed getting to know you, Donna (you had a great meet)! Ande, thanks for taking the time to introduce yourself at lunch on Wednesday!
Congratulations to everyone on meeting your goals and achieving personal best times!

Wow. That was a great experience. The swimming was so fast, and I met so many cool people. Everything was way beyond my expectations. Jaeger is right, though. Cold water isn't fun, and neither is coming back to the real world.
"Yeah, I think we pretty well maxed out what that facility can reasonably accommodate. But, hey, if cold water in the showers is our biggest gripe that's a good meet. Seriously this was probably the best run I've been to. It just ran like clockwork."
Kirk, this is what I wanted to say, you said it better.
I too had a blast, though my own swimming was a little disappointing. I even got to meet a few of you forumites; hope to spend more time with you next time! And now, back to training...!
Randy
Quick question about the facilities. How was the pool (pools?) set up? Was there a separate pool for warm-up/warm-down or was there one long course pool divided into three sections using bulkheads?
