I'm going to be in the DC area (Crystal City), are there any places to swim. I checked the "find a place to swim" here but no help. Thanx in advance...
  • Alexandria y - www.ymcawashdc.com/YMCA-Alexandria.aspx - is between the Reagan National and Braddock Road stops (closer to Braddock). From CC, it may be easier to get a hotel shuttle (about 6 minute drive) or cab. Georgetown is not near any Metro - harder to get to from CC w/o a car (over Key Bridge - often backed up in the morning - and then up several blocks). Hope this helps......

That is Univ of MD... (MA is Massachusetts) That one confused me too. Never made it out of the hotel (except a run the first evening). Worked pretty much 6am to 10pm. I should be back for the week of 30 July-3 August and will definitely try to expand my horizons and be less Ronaldus Maximus. If I am in town during Zones, I will definitely show up for support.

Georgetown U. has a great pool - not that busy. Alexandria Y (not that far from CC) is a surprisingly nice and clean 4-lane pool with sunshine coming in through their windows - not busy from 7:00-9:00a.m. Vidalia is a great restaurant!!! Can you get to it from the Metro? The "Y" I was going to go to charges $20 per visit!

Although it was always so gross in the lockerroom, I used to love to swim at Marie Reed when it was snowing outside. I think it happened about three times in ten years. The lights form the street lamps sparkling through that huge glass wimdow was trememdous.

I heading back to DC this Sunday for a week. I'll definately give Videlia a try. Ten Phen sounds Thai. If so, I'll remember that for when my wife joins me. :wine: I just found out the the Pentagon has a lap pool so I'll try to hit it. Supposedly only a 10 minute walk from my Hotel.

There's an excellent health club in crystal city that many DOD employees belong to, so you might be able to tag along as a guest with someone. It has a decent lap pool and a cold plunge pool (about 50°) next to the hot tub.
