I'm going to be in the DC area (Crystal City), are there any places to swim. I checked the "find a place to swim" here but no help.
Thanx in advance...

Old Ebbets grill is one of the most silly restaurants in DC. go on an adventure and try somehtinfg that isn't so WASPY.
I love the variety of oysters with a martini, but I love new things. Any suggestions?
My mom used to go there all the time when she worked at the Nixon White House. As a treat, when I was interning there 6yrs ago, I took her to lunch there on my last day.
My best memory of that restaurant is that my Dad almost got in a fight with a drunk guy at the bar when we were little (like 5 yrs old). The cops had to take that dude out the door in handcuffs.
My brother works in the White House so Its convenient to meet him too. No fights are planned, but you never know.
Will you be able to stay for a meet or at least a meeting with some NoVA people? I'm about 30 miles west of DC.

Not this trip. When are the meets and/or gatherings?:party2:
If you're considering other restaurants in the vicinity of Old Ebbet, you might try the Oval Room or Equinox, both just northwest of Lafayette Square. A little further afield, Vidalia is excellent even when billed as home cooking (don't be fooled!).
Internet search will give you an idea of menus and style.
Hains Point is a good early morning workout, very quiet with fresh air and generally cool water. If you're a golfer, it makes a good warmup before a quick round on the surrounding links.
Good Luck,

I vote for Vidalia! Ten Pehn is fabulous too!
Maybe a get together around zones on August 18-19?

DC has the cheapest taxis for a major city in the country. Take a taxi anywhere & try something different. Osters in martinis is so Ronald Reagon!
Before Old Ebbet redid itself in the 80s, it was a fun place to go. Now it might as well be in any mall anywhere in any suburb. It has never been any good for anyhting but for brunch. Don't go to the Oval Room, ever. Equinox isn't bad. DC has one of the most diverse ethnic mix of people. That is what I miss so much.
Georgetown U. has a great pool - not that busy. Alexandria Y (not that far from CC) is a surprisingly nice and clean 4-lane pool with sunshine coming in through their windows - not busy from 7:00-9:00a.m. Vidalia is a great restaurant!!!
That is Univ of MD...
(MA is Massachusetts)
Ack, major mistake in the eyes of the great MD backer. hee-hee Sorry, guess my home state (born in MA) came out of my fingers.
