I thought I read somewhere that in a race if you switch lanes and don't interfere with other swimmers and finish in the orginal lane, it is leagal. Is this correct for uss swimming. If it is what rule number is it in the rule book?

He would push off the wall into the next lane, do a few strokes and then slip back into his lane.
Wow, I try not to do this.
