Swiminfo.com has released a post saying that Amanda Beard will be on the cover of the July issue for Playboy.
How do you think this will effect her image among the swimming communties? Will any of us purchase this issue because of her?
I don't think the two are at all similar, other than the fact that a decision is being made.
I do. I think they're both personal decisions that really shouldn't be anyone else's business (other than the spouse, if there is one).
Anyway, how many swimmers have made enough money due to their status in the sport to legitimately retire after they're done swimming? Not many. Thorpe, Phelps, Beard and maybe Hoff are the ones I can think of. And none of them are really making that money by swimming. They are making that money by helping to sell products. Basically all Amanda is doing is help Playboy sell ads.
