At least I'm not seeded last in anything, although I wouldn't be too uspet to have the distinction of being the final finisher at my first nationals. Hopefully the first of many.
There is nothing wrong with being seated last and coming in last as long as you give it your best effort on that day!
I am seated last in 2 events and as long as I beat my times from last year, which I should, I will be happy.
Donna:bouncing:
So... you must not be THE Tom Jaeger (the 1988 Olympian)...
Anna Lea
If only. I think he spelled it without the "e" (that is, Jager). I don't think I'll ever swim as fast as he warms up.
Tom, like Donna said, there's no shame in coming in last. I broke my wrist and was in a full arm cast two weeks before 2005's LCM Nationals at Mission Viejo. I had booked the flights and hotel so I decided to give it a shot. Swam the 50 and 100 free, came in way dead last, but the fact that I was able to finish, I was truly amazed, proud (and some say really stupid).
It was tough to sit through the rest of my events watching my empty lane. However, everyone who saw me walking around with the cast was amazed I was competing, there were a lot of strangers cheering me on and I made a lot of new friends. Looking back, we all go because of the competition, but thats just the beginning.
:party2:
Good luck with the rest of your taper and we'll see you this week!
One last shameless bit of promotion:
There is going to be a party Friday night at the Mariners v. Padres game. USMS has 40 seats blocked out and tickets can be bought for $11 dollars. As of now, there are 9 extra seats up for grabs, but I have to return those on Tuesday. If you want to come to the game (which really, why wouldn't you?) send me a PM and I'll tell you how you can get tickets with our section. After Tuesday, we won't have a block of tickets anymore but if you still want to come you can buy tickets in Section 334 (I think they cost $15 regularly) and sit with us anyway.
If you need more info shoot me a message or check out the MLB Party at Nationals thread in the NSR Forums.
Can't wait to see everyone there!!!!!!!!!!
I want to see some fast swimming folks. You're kicking my team out of our practice time, so let's make it worth it.If you and your lovely wife had signed up we would have had a couple more fast swims.
Hopefully, I’ll see you there. I’d love to have a chat.
