  • Tom, like Donna said, there's no shame in coming in last. I broke my wrist and was in a full arm cast two weeks before 2005's LCM Nationals at Mission Viejo. I had booked the flights and hotel so I decided to give it a shot. Swam the 50 and 100 free, came in way dead last, but the fact that I was able to finish, I was truly amazed, proud (and some say really stupid). It was tough to sit through the rest of my events watching my empty lane. However, everyone who saw me walking around with the cast was amazed I was competing, there were a lot of strangers cheering me on and I made a lot of new friends. Looking back, we all go because of the competition, but thats just the beginning. :party2: Good luck with the rest of your taper and we'll see you this week!
