...Hearing everyone behind and around the blocks go "Oooooh!" and then chuckle after seeing or even just hearing someone belly flop their dive LOL

Good thread Rich!! When I was swimming my 1000 hearing and seeing my teammates jumping up and down and cheering for me. I started laughing in the water and it almost ended badly. But this was first meet I had been to with a team and it was soo cool to have people backing me up. I saw a man, probably late 60's early 70's, with a brand new Fastskin II (right after they came out) get in and swim 1000 like it was just any other day at the pool. He had no itention of going fast and he was swimming because he loved it. I love seeing that older generation competing. There is a lady on my team who is 85 and a man who just turned 70 and seeing them dive off the blocks and race simply for the joy of it really makes me smile.
