I felt for her Matt to an extent...yeah much of what happened is her own doing but still there must have been a heck of a lot of pain in her life too.
I learned one thing from Abnormal Psych class...we're all potentially just a small misfire away from being on the couch...so to speak.

Indeed. I defy anyone to name a single track athlete who trained that much at that age and later went on to have any real career as an adult. The wear and tear of running is different than it is in swimming plus one peaks later in track than in swimming. That poor kid has 20 years before she hits her prime and she will never make it. If you can get a bet on her making it at the top level later on, take it at any odds.

Don't forget he knocked up the princess, who then bore his child some years after his death, and so is really the true ancestor of the royal family.
As for US news stations take your pick....the top story will be about what celeb is doing what and about 20 minutes in we'll get a death toll for Iraq...that or they'll ignore Phelp's swimming and talk about a father/daughter tug-o-war over a towel and call it a beating!
The Beeb is the only reliable news. ;)
