Things to do in the water other than "just swim laps"

Here are some things I'm particularly enjoying: -- doing a deep dive off the board, trying to touch then bottom, and then dolphin kicking back to the surface -- doing a bunch of flip turns in a row "on the spot" in the water, rather than off the wall -- anything involving attempting to recover an object (e.g. brick) -- anything involving a pole What are your little quirky things? Or is everyone here so busy training that no one has any fun in the water?
  • #1 I liked the first few times, but many of these stationaries are pointless, and hardly any of us understand what Einstein was really going on about in his professional career. #2 Maybe a limit of 1 (one) smilie per message would force people to think first. There's a limit of 10 (ten) right now. #3 Posts in a thread should have something to do with the first post or at least with swimming. There's always the alternative of starting a new thread if you have something interesting to say? :drink: Cheers Michael Phelps, if you ever visit this forum. Enjoy your hard earned success for a moment. Signatures are an individual thing. Aside from a slightly controversial isp mirror, I think they are generally not considered to be objectionable, not commented upon, and can reflect anything one happens to be thinking about at the moment, e.g., cooking or grilling. They are generally not particularly open to random NSR Einstein criticism. There is no smilie rule limit. You don't have to like them. Many don't use them. If you don't like them, don't. Otherwise, take it up on the "you are the dictator" thread where your opinion on rule changes is encouraged. Sheesh. :dedhorse: Michael Phelps is too busy making FB "friends" to post here.
  • Egad.  We're on to pole dancing and naked relays, so no worries about your itsy bitsy isp mirror. I was just thinking, in light of his comments, that our new poster had not reviewed those lovely closed topic poll type threads. And I mean, can one imagine limiting smilies? It would make HWMNBN so happy. :dedhorse:   :joker:  :drink:
  • Lay on the bottom of the deep end and blow air rings. Good for hypoxic training. The lifeguards love it. DV I LOVE DOING THAT TOO! FUN FUN!
  • I thought I had posted this before, but my computer (work laptop) is a mess! So, I thought if you wanted to do two very beneficial things for USMS, with a pole, you could 1) hold a fundraiser at a local "dancing" establishment, and 2) the side benefit, I bet a whole bunch of people would want to think about joining Masters! :drink: (sorry, I like the smilies!) PS Is there a freezing smiley- that shows really cold? Perhaps even sell t-shirts at your fundraiser: "USMS, it's not just about the pole. _______________________________________ (please feel free to add a comment) :p
  • Summertime fun: Butt bumpers, pier tag, anything involving the diving board, pretending to be synchro swimmers (ever see that old SNL skit?), see how many fwd/bkwd somersaults you can do in a row without air, see how many bkwd layout flips you can do in a row with air (breathing each time your face comes around), otter rolls, pier sprints, alligator walks in the shallow water. I could go on... (Oh, and I love underwater tea parties, too! Can't wait till my daughter is old enough for this!) The outdoor pool opens in 46 days, 20 hours, and 37 minutes! WOOHOOO!!!

Back to topic, I want to know about the pole????? Here, here Sam! I was wondering about the pole too... My gym now offers bellydancing classes. Is pole dancing in the pool next? Me thinks the participants will want to increase the water temp....Although, I may have the wrong idea here?

The SNL Synchro skit with Martin Short is a major classic LOL!! Thanks for reminding me of that one ....I suspect that the new Will Ferrell movie about ice skating is similar and probably hillarious! Back on topic now: I use to love to do underwater kung fu fighting too ....as Kyra pointed out.....and sharks and minows is also a great pool game....(I think someone else may have already mentioned that one though...Oh well...sorry if someone already did?)
