Things to do in the water other than "just swim laps"
Former Member
Here are some things I'm particularly enjoying:
-- doing a deep dive off the board, trying to touch then bottom, and then dolphin kicking back to the surface
-- doing a bunch of flip turns in a row "on the spot" in the water, rather than off the wall
-- anything involving attempting to recover an object (e.g. brick)
-- anything involving a pole
What are your little quirky things? Or is everyone here so busy training that no one has any fun in the water?

Does tugging on the lane line during backstroke count? I like to dive down underwater right when I am entering the deep end and then kicking off of the sloped bottom and streamlining the rest of the way to the wall then flipturning ....and then its rinse and repeat each lap.....that is when there's no coach around LOL!

She probably didn't want to get her hair wet. :thhbbb: :thhbbb: :thhbbb:
All right, you twits, I finally saw all those teases about the water slide. :thhbbb: :thhbbb: :thhbbb:
First off, I am old. I was saving my bad old self to swim on a 200+ year relay. I would note that Muppet and blue Muppet were quite anxious to run off and :drink:, so they skipped all the relays at the end of the meet. When I was all done swimming my old foggie relay, they were AWOL.
:dedhorse:
Second, I was trying to lie down and rest after some very taxing sprints and a 50 free that caused me to break a finger. Not a fingernail, mind you. Those were pre-masters things I used to have. Along with a more comely back.
Third, my hair is almost always wet and chlorine damaged. And I seem to spend most of my time in gym clothes and swim suits. (But, unlike some here, at least I am not contributing to the pajamafication of America. :thhbbb: )
Fourth, it is quite refreshing to see that SS has finally met his match. :joker:
Finally, I have a boatload of kids and have spent my life doing cannonballs in the pool and checking out hot guys. Back to nookie ...
I think Einstein's jolly assumption that genius had limits is depressing. I've seen that quote 1x10^6 times. Makes you think everything worth inventing has already been invented, and every good song has been written. That makes it completely useless to try anything new, least of all in swimming. Maybe I'm a bit sensitive? It's only words, after all.
I can't believe Fortress didn't want to play on the water slide. You can't ever be too old for that!

For the saftey of other swimmers Karen and I will remain on opposing sides of the country...
...until I get NQTs next season...
"Party on Wayne...Party on Garth...Excellent!"

IMO the idea of the quote wasn't really about the limits of genius...it was much more about the limitlessness of human stupidity instead....He has another similar type quote where he says something to the effect that there are only two things that we know for sure are infinite....Human stupidity and the universe....and the jury is still out on the latter one. LOL!

p.s. Sorry you don't like my Einstein quote!
Also SS has "finally" met his match?? LOL!....Where have you been for the last several months Fort? I think I've done a pretty decent job at relentlessly slamming on the Britboy both here and on FB for months on end now...don't you think?? LOL!
Water slides, wave pools, playing fetch (usually with my googles :shakeshead:), giving dolphin rides, skinny dipping.
My husband doesn't really dig the water, so I was delighted when my daughter turned out to be a fish.
One of the best parts of being a parent is getting to be a kid in the water again!

Or break a nail or something :thhbbb: ....Sorry Fort...I couldn't resist...You forgive me right? LOL! ;)

#1 I liked the first few times, but many of these stationaries are pointless, and hardly any of us understand what Einstein was really going on about in his professional career.
#2 Maybe a limit of 1 (one) smilie per message would force people to think first. There's a limit of 10 (ten) right now.
#3 Posts in a thread should have something to do with the first post or at least with swimming. There's always the alternative of starting a new thread if you have something interesting to say?
:drink: Cheers Michael Phelps, if you ever visit this forum. Enjoy your hard earned success for a moment.

Not sure exactly what you're talking about there? The Einstein quote is part of my signature....its not a posting??....and my last posting (posting #29) was a direct response to your posting (posting #26)...where You posted a comment specifically about my signature and nothing else....So how does point #3 you make above apply to me?...It seems more logical that your 3rd point applies to you? I'm sorry if I upset you in some way by having that Einstein quote as part of my signature.....Why should I start a separate thread about it though? Are you saying that posting #29 was out of line in some way? How could responding directly to your comments be out of line or hijacking? I don't even know you but I suspect you're most likely a regular here who took on an alias to directly attack me (ALA posting #26)....Your comments basically make no sense IMO?
